Welcome to the website of the IUCN National Committee for the UK (NCUK).
IUCN is the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the world’s largest network of environmental experts. It celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018.
NCUK represents IUCN Members in the United Kingdom and its Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies. It was formally recognised by IUCN Council in 1997.
NCUK also represents the interests of UK Members in the IUCN West Europe region, working closely with the IUCN East Europe, North and Central Asia region and across the global IUCN family.
The background to our work is delivery of the IUCN Global Programme 2021-2024 and its regional interpretation, through the NCUK workplan for the same period. We are particularly interested in bringing the many IUCN tools and guidance documents on nature conservation to the attention of the IUCN community in the UK, encouraging their use and sharing results, and helping IUCN Members work better together through improved networking between the UK’s environmental experts.
As well as being an information and communications conduit, NCUK manages projects and holds meetings, workshops and conferences.
